Liberty Lane gets another shot at the tournament!
- Liberty Lane stood tall in her corner as her name as announced. She thought about her long career and how it all hinged on this next match. Liberty looked back to her rise to become Foxy Boxing champion and how she held on to that title for so long. She thought about her reign as a popular, undefeated champion in the ring. Then, thoughts of Vanity Vale crowded into her mind. The woman who finally beat her and took her title. She thought about her re-match with Vanity that cemented her rival as the better boxer. Then, Liberty was filled with quiet anguish as her mind took her to Ivanna Payne and how that woman had easily ended her career in the Foxy Boxing league. Liberty had been treated like a rank amateur by the evil Payne. But soon, Liberty began to feel strong and proud. She had helped a young fighter by the name of Raquel Balboa rise through the Foxy Boxing ranks and defeat Payne to become the next champion. With Liberty’s training and support, Raquel became a legendary champion, retired undefeated, and was now off starting her new, own league. And it was that woman who had faith in Liberty to bring her out of forced retirement to take part in this international tournament. Liberty’s first bout went horribly wrong thanks to interference from French champion, Clarisse Cloutier. But thanks to Akira Asuka, Liberty had been given one final last shot at glory… an opportunity to face Brazilian champion, Luiza Lima, in the hopes that she could advance to meet Clarisse Cloutier in the final match of the tournament and end her career on a high note. But Liberty knew, win or lose tonight, this was her last chance. Could she do it? Could she beat Luiza and then fight Clarisse? Time would tell…
- Both women were called to the center of the ring and Liberty remained focused as Luiza teased her. “The famous Liberty Lane! I’m happy you’re back in the tournament. I get to be the woman who gives you your last defeat! I’m so sorry you won’t get your revenge on Clarisse Cloutier. Ciao!”
- At the sound of the opening bell, both women circled around each other, looking for a clear opening. Liberty kept her guard up, but then Luiza began her attack. The Brazilian moved in close and dug into Liberty’s side with a few quick, but piercing shots.
- Luiza Lima was known for being quick in the ring and she used her speed to great effect against Liberty. For the majority of the first round, Luiza danced around her American opponent and slammed her with quick shots to the face. Liberty knew she had to take her opponent’s speed seriously.
- Toward the end of the round, Liberty Lane had had enough. She fired back into Luiza, matching her speed with power. Luiza was caught off-guard and ate a powerful left straight into her jaw. Liberty then began to abuse the Brazilian up until the sound of the bell. DING!
- The fighters rested in their corners, but did not sit down. Luiza Lima flaunted her form in her corner, enjoying the catcalls from the crowd. Liberty Lane, however, was not in a playful mood. She was here tonight for serious business. She wanted to knock her opponent out early in the next round. Despite the catcalls for Luiza, the majority of the audience was cheering Liberty Lane on. And the ex-champion fed off that support. DING! And now it was time to get to business.
- At the sound of the bell, Liberty flew into action and rocked Luiza Lima with an earth-shattering uppercut! She proceeded to torment the Brazilian with sharp punches into her head and body. The crowd was going crazy as Liberty Lane let her boxing skills shine through. This was the fighter they remembered!
- Throughout the 2nd round, Luiza felt the power of Liberty Lane. She was led around the ring, attempting to dodge the American’s blows, but Liberty did not let up. She stalked her opponent and found a nice target in Luiza’s midsection.
- Liberty was on a roll and knew she had Luiza in her power. But then, Liberty slipped up. She ran into Luiza with all her strength and put everything she had into a right fist meant to knock the Brazilian out. But Luiza narrowly avoided the blow and caught Liberty with a forceful left hook that smashed into Liberty’s face. Luckily for Liberty Lane, the bell rang at that moment to end the round.
- Both Luiza and Liberty were tired. They had given their all in this match and it had gone back and forth. Now, they rested for the next round. Luiza still felt confident. She leaned back with a sly smirk on her face. Liberty, meanwhile, sat up in her corner, tired but resilient. And the crowd cheered both fighters on equally.
- DING! And the bell rang to start the 3rd round. Both women met in the center of the ring and danced around each other. Liberty looked to continue the momentum from the last round, but the effect of Luiza’s last punch to the side of her head began to take its toll. Liberty found her reaction speed slowing down. Still, she moved in for the kill with a right fist to Luiza’s head. Unfortunately, Luiza was quicker and moved to the side while catching Liberty with a devastating blow to the side!
- Luiza Lima capitalized on her punch and pounded into Liberty, forcing her back into the ropes! Liberty backed up against them for support, but found no escape from Luiza’s punches, which seemed to be increasing in speed. Indeed, Luiza felt herself reinvigorated now that she had the upper hand. And she felt an adrenaline rush once she began hearing her name growing louder in the crowd. “Luiza! Luiza! Luiza!” Luiza pummeled Liberty with devastating shots to the belly.
- And the chants grew louder. Incredibly, it was the Brazilian’s name been shouted. “LUIZA! LUIZA! LUIZA!” The fans were cheering on Luiza Lima, hoping for her victory in this match! And Luiza fed off that support. She treating Liberty Lane to several easy punches as Liberty got tangled in the ropes. Some of the crowd still cheered for their heroine, Liberty Lane, but those cheers were drowned by Luiza’s. Liberty couldn’t fight back. Luiza’s fists had finally taken the fight out of the ex-champion.
- Luiza Lima continued to demolish Liberty Lane. The cheers for Liberty began to quiet as the fans saw that there was no escape for their heroine. Soon, Luiza allowed Liberty to move forward away from the ropes and then she delivered the coup de grace: a wicked right hook that shut Liberty’s lights out for good.
- Liberty Lane came crashing down to the canvas, crushed by the Brazilian champion, Luiza Lima! Luiza walked away from the legendary Liberty, arms raised high. The crowd cheered her on. “LUIZA! LUIZA! LUIZA!” Liberty, meanwhile, lay knocked out on the canvas. And the count begin. “1… 2… 3… 4… 5… “
- “6… 7… 8… 9… 10! DING DING!” And it was over. For the second time during this tournament, Liberty Lane tasted defeat. But this time, there would be no second chances. Some of her fans jeered, while others cried. Their heroine who was close to victory in the first semi-final of the tournament had been given a second chance thanks to Akira Asuka, but now that chance was destroyed. This was how Liberty Lane would end her legacy tonight.
- “The winner of the match, by knockout in the third round… Brazilian Foxy Boxing Champion, LUIZA LIMA!!” And the crowd cheered their new fave fighter on. Luiza Lima strutted around the ring, danced for the crowd, and let them know she as Number 1. “I told you I’d beat this menina! And tonight, I end her career!” Luiza then stepped to her corner and removed her gloves, so that she could witness the penalty.
- Once again, Liberty Lane found herself penalized for her defeat. Handlers came in, removed her top, and displayed her on the canvas. But something was different this time. Liberty Lane had a visitor in her unconscious state and that visitor’s foot was planted straight on her tummy.
- French Foxy Boxing Champion and Liberty Lane tormentor, Clarisse Cloutier had entered the ring and stood confidently over her defeated rival. She looked down with a smug look. “Oh, mon amie… did you hear the crowd tonight? They cheered on your opponent, not you. They did not want to see you defeated by me. So sad… Haha! And I did not even have to help Luiza Lima. She beat you with no interference. You were just weak. It’s too bad… I wanted to be the one to beat you, but now, you are tres finis! And I get to beat Luiza to be the greatest Foxy Boxer in the world!”
- Before Clarisse could torment Liberty further, Luiza Lima stepped in to stop her. “No, no, menina! You do not get to gloat over Liberty Lane. I’m the one who beat her, not you! And I needed no help. You have no reason to be here. She scared you… but not me. Now, I beat YOU to be the best in the world.” Clarisse just looked at her new rival with a smug look. “Okay, mon amie… the fans cheered you on to victory. Next time, we see who they cheer the most. But I will CRUSH you.” Both women stood over Liberty Lane’s defeated body and glared at each other for a few moments before exiting the ring. Both women would meet for the final match of the tournament.
- After the match, Liberty Lane was brought back to her senses and escorted back to the locker rooms. Her tournament path was over for a second time. Before getting ready for the showers, she sat down on the ground and sobbed as she came to a realization. Tonight, she had let down Raquel Balboa (again), Akira Asuka, and the fans (again). Luiza Lima did not need any distractions… she had beaten her fair and square. And that’s when Liberty Lane realized that her boxing career was over. She was once a mighty champion, but in recent years, she saw that reputation crumble away thanks to boxers like Vanity Vale, Ivanna Payne, and Luiza Lima. There was a new slew of fighters on the boxing scene… younger, quicker, stronger. Raquel Balboa was currently recruiting many of them for her new boxing league. Liberty realized she was a fighter past her prime. It was time for her to retire of her own free will and let these new fighters have their day. Maybe a new champion would rise in this new league and bring the same type of honor she once did long ago. And with that, Liberty Lane headed to the showers and prepared to return home, leaving her foxy boxing career behind.
